What to expect at the Wave

What to expect...

Expert coaching support in and out of the water for progressor surfers!

Before the day you will receive a pre-weekend information pack and ‘get surf ready’ series of videos and as much advice and support as you need.

On the day you will be met by our Women + Waves team who will show you around the facilities and help you choose the right wetsuit and surfboard.

Once you’re ready we will have a pre-surf briefing and goal setting session, followed by land based coaching before you get into the water to surf for an hour. Following this you will join your coaches for a video analysis session to relive your time in the water.

There are optional surf yoga and surf skate activities to help maximise your surf technique and enjoyment of the day!

If your goal is simply to have fun, don’t worry, we can go easy on the coaching elements. However, if you want to maximise your progression and learn new skills, then this is perfectly designed to help you on that journey.

Whatever your ability and experience in the surf, we’ve got you covered as your tuition is tailored to suit your ability perfectly. Your sessions are zero pressure, lots of fun and your female instructors are all qualified lifeguards and are fully insured, so you’ll be in safe hands!
This one-day surf programme gives you the perfect introduction to surfing in a safe and supportive environment. With practical instruction in the water and in-depth video analysis session back on land, this will give your surfing skills a great boost! Here’s what you can expect to learn:

  • Perfecting body position on the board
  • Fine-tune your paddle techniques
  • Perfect your pop-up
  • How to catch green waves
  • How to deal with steep take-offs
  • The skills required to make a drop

Every waking minute of the day will revolve around you and your fellow guests; ensuring everyone has a great time, is getting personalised coaching to help them reach their goals.

Your surf session will be filmed by a photographer on the pier and a member of the team in-water with the Go-Pro! These photos and videos will be used for detailed video analysis feedback sessions to fast-track progression. The opportunity to have footage of yourself analysed is the quickest way to learn, as it increases your self awareness, quickly spot errors and helps you visualise what to do to take your performance to the next level. You’ll have access to all of your photographs and videos after the weekend via the easy to use online gallery platform that will be shared with you.

Why not join an optional Surf Skate Workshop? We are offering an optional one hour surf skate workshop for £25pp. This session will provide foundational skills and movements that you will be able to replicate on your board in the water.
