Itinerary

All our surf days and suggested activities are completely optional – you can enjoy as much or as little as you desire. This is not a boot camp!

Day One

Arrival Day! Welcome to Newquay, the surf capital of the UK! Get ready to join your new salty sisters for a seven-night bodyboarding extravaganza filled with amazing waves, vibrant surf culture, delicious Cornish pasties, and laid-back vibes.

Check-in begins at 4 pm, marking the official start of your bodyboarding retreat adventure. You'll be greeted at your apartment and given a tour before having some time to settle in and freshen up.

At 6 pm, join your new surf camp crew for a relaxed welcome sunset dinner at The Fistral Beach Bar. The rest of the evening is yours to unwind, soak in the laid-back atmosphere, get to know the rest of the group, and start sharing the stoke for the surf days ahead.

Day two - Part 1

Today is the day your coaching begins! The day kicks off with the entire group gathering in the morning to set your goals for the camp using your bespoke Women + Waves logbooks. Once goals are set, you'll discuss plans to achieve them down at the beach.
Every day your instructors will assess the ocean conditions. Based on their judgement, they'll choose the best beach with the perfect waves for your skill level. With five beaches within walking distance of Newquay town centre, you’re always spoilt for choice! You’ll be allocated your equipment and then head to the beach, diving straight into the ocean for your first lesson with your trip leader and the team.
The Women + Waves team will help you pick up skills from the get-go, ensuring you have a fantastic time all while being safe and supported in the water.

Day two - Part 2

After the surf session, you'll head back for lunch and your first video analysis and theory session. Watching videos and reviewing photos of your bodyboarding is crucial for progress. You'll receive valuable feedback from the coaches and encouragement from your new surfing friends. Plus theory to start building your knowledge and confidence in the ocean.
In the evening, you have time to chill, relax and enjoy the views of the rugged Newquay coastline at sunset, before heading to an optional well-deserved group dinner and drinks. Where you’ll enjoy a delicious feast.

Day three - Part 1

The day starts early, heading straight into the ocean for your next bodyboarding lesson. You'll be applying the tips and techniques picked up from the previous day's video analysis, with your coaches in the water to assist you and offer help and advice as you go.
After surfing, you'll head back to the classroom for lunch and another video analysis session, where you’ll begin to see your significant improvements. You’ll celebrate your achievements, laugh at the inevitable wipeouts and start to visualise the next level of progress. Surf theory will also cover the next steps for independent surfing, plus Q&As for any questions you have about surfing etiquette, line-ups or any other aspect of surfing that you’d like to know more about.

Day three - Part 2

After your first few days of bodyboarding, your muscles might be feeling a bit tight, so you can finish the day with surf-inspired stretches to limber you up for the next round.
In the evening, you have the option to gather for a delicious group dinner at a fantastic local restaurant - spend the evening laughing over wipeouts and cheering each other's epic rides.

Day four

A new day brings another bodyboard session. During your third lesson, you’ll focus on refining your technique and building on the feedback from the previous day's video analysis and surf theory. Your bespoke one to one coaching will help you address any challenges, working with you to troubleshoot solutions and dramatically improve your skills.
After your beach lesson, you'll head back to the classroom for lunch followed by theory and video analysis. This follow-up session allows you to review your rides while the waves you caught are still fresh in your memory, helping you to learn, progress, celebrate your achievements, and identify areas for improvement.
In the evening, you can rejoin your surfing crew for a relaxed dinner at a favourite local hot spot before heading home for a well-deserved good night’s sleep.

Day five

Day five begins with another invigorating bodyboard lesson. Dive back into the waves and continue building on your progress. After five consecutive days in the ocean, you'll start to see the benefits of your time with Women + Waves—some aspects will just click into place, and your confidence will soar. Your instructors will be there the entire time, monitoring your progression and providing personalised feedback to address any challenges.
The afternoon offers some well-deserved free time. You can relax and enjoy Newquay’s many beaches or join a surf shop tour for a fun exploration of the independent surf shops and boutiques. If shopping isn’t your thing, there are plenty of great coffee shops where you can unwind with delicious coffee and cake.
It’s been a busy week so far! This evening, join the group for a surf-inspired stretch session to relax and enjoy a group dinner or take some time for yourself to recharge for the next day.

Day six - Part 1

Today starts a little differently with a guided sea swim. There are so many benefits of cold water swimming both for your physical and mental well-being, and it’s your turn to experience the rejuvenating effects of a sea dip! After this refreshing start, we’ll reconvene at one of your favourite cafes for a group breakfast, fueling up for a new day of bodyboarding.
After breakfast, it’s time to gear up and hit the ocean for your final beach bodyboarding lesson. Now is the time to put everything you’ve learned into action. Make the most of every wave, using your instructors' vast experience and knowledge to push your bodyboarding to the next level. This is also your last chance (on this trip, anyway) to enjoy the waves with your new friends, so cheer each other on as you witness the amazing progression in confidence and ability you’ve all made.

Day six - Part 2

After your ocean session, it’s time for your final video analysis and surf theory. Watching yourself back, you'll be able to see just how far you’ve come after six consecutive days on the water. All the footage will be available for you to take home with you so you can compare your surfing from the start to the end of the week. This is the perfect opportunity to ask any final burning questions and soak up every bit of your instructors' hard-earned knowledge.
In the evening, it’s time to pack up - there’ll be plenty of time to relax on your last evening in Newquay - you have the option to join your new group of surfing gals for a final group dinner and celebratory drinks - You’ve earned it!

  • Depending on the tides and our plan for the day, we will often meet for a morning coffee in one of the lovely local coffee shops before the day begins.
  • Bodyboarding can be physically demanding and it’s important to keep yourself fueled up, so we ask you to bring a packed lunch or snacks with you. We recommend fruit, nuts and other fibre-filled snacks to keep you energised for your ocean sessions.

  • Our bodyboarding sessions will be led by our highly-qualified coaching team, and all abilities are catered for. Our instructors are all qualified lifeguards and are fully insured, so you’ll be in safe hands!
