What people say

"The trip vastly exceeded my expectations! The location was truly magical and unique with the tastiest of home-cooked food every day. Having been on a couple of other surf trips from other companies I can definitely say this was the best yet and my surfing progressed the most since I’ve started. Seriously can’t say enough good things, incredibly memorable and worthwhile experience!"

"Such an amazing experience. Secret Morocco is truly an amazing trip that I would have NEVER been able to find this little surfing town on my own! You are truly getting an authentic Moroccan experience with empty beaches and incredible adventures! My surfing skills improved more in those 7 days of coaching than in the last 2 years of teaching myself!"

"A fantastic trip to Morocco! Incredible food and superb, quiet surf spots. I love that these trips attract like-minded girls, and you come away having made a new group of pals. W+W stand out from the crowd - everything from start to finish is professional and extremely well organised, and run by a great group of girls! This was the second time I have booked a trip with them, and I’m sure it won’t be the last!"

"My intention of joining the trip was to meet women and catch waves and I got so much more than I could ever have imagined. Women + Waves camps are the most precious cove for discovery and fun, and now I have a place in my memory that I can return to whenever confidence sways! Absolute dream instructors, so generous, sharp and incredibly patient. I received so much good advice and I can't wait until the next wave ride!"

"Just returned from an amazing surf camp, it was exceptional. The accommodation and the food were excellent. As for the surfing, we had video analysis every day and great theory sessions which really took our surfing to the next level! Besides all this we had also really a fun time experiencing Morocco at its best with camel riding, visiting an old fort and shopping in the little town nearby. All in one week!"

Itinerary

Please note, sometimes we need to be flexible as some activities will be weather and condition dependent – but don’t worry, we’ll always do our very best to ensure you get the very best out of the trip! All our surf days and suggested activities are completely optional – you can enjoy as much or as little as you desire. This is not a boot camp!

Day 1

Touch down in Morocco! One of our trusted drivers will meet you at the airport at the allocated transfer time (see the travel section below for more info) to whisk you away to our beautiful accommodation.

Check-in is at 4:00pm. If you arrive early or late, we have an area where you can relax and put your bags down, then go soak up the sun or explore the town. You’ll have time to get settled, then you'll all gather together to get to know each other in our welcome meeting. We’ll set personal goals for the week using your logbooks so we’ve got a clear progression to work towards during the surf sessions. Then it’ll be time to start thinking about some delicious Moroccan food for dinner.

Day 2

Enjoy an epic breakfast before getting equipment sorted and heading out to our secret spot for our first day of surfing, where you'll be getting acclimated to the warm water and incredible waves. You'll follow up the surf with video analysis, a workshop on surf confidence and the first of your surf skate workshops (suited to riders of all levels). To round off the day you can take an optional sunset hike up to the Fort followed by another beautiful dinner.

Day 3

What better way to start the day than with a warm up of surf stretches on the rooftop? Breakfast will be served, then you’ll hit the pool for a workshop on paddling, turtle rolling, punching through waves and pivot turns. Your second surf lesson will focus on putting the skills we learnt in the workshop into practice and will all be captured on camera for our video analysis session later. Next you’ll have a workshop on surf etiquette, followed by another fab feast for dinner.

Day 4

Today you'll take a stroll down to our fave local coffee shop before heading to the beach for our surf session, where you’ll keep progressing and working on our personal objectives. The surf will be followed by video analysis, a workshop on forecasting and the second of your awesome surf skating workshops. This is a great day to go for a massage and scrub at the local Hammam, an optional unique traditional experience that your body will be extra grateful for after 4 days of surfing. Then to finish the day you’ll be served something delicious by our amazing local chef again.

Day 5

Fuel up over another delicious breakfast, ready to hit the waves for more progression sessions! There’ll be video analysis as usual, as well as a workshop all about equipment. You'll wind down before making your way over to the local bar for a drink or two before your evening meal.

Day 6

After breakfast we’ll head out for another fun day of surfing (you’ll be well into it by now!). Video analysis will be followed by a surf travel workshop. Then we’ll enjoy a trip to our favourite beach for a walk through the incredible natural stone arches before we head back to our villa to gorge on a delicious dinner together.

Day 7

We’ll kick off our last full day with a surf-inspired yoga stretch on the rooftop before we head to the beach for our final surf together. This session will be a fun ‘free surf’ with lots of opportunities to put what you’ve learnt into practice. We’ll have our last video analysis and a mega Q&A and logbook session to check in with our surf goals from Day 1 – it’s always a lovely part of the week because you get to see how much you’ve improved! Finally we’ll head to the bar for drinks before an epic last dinner, stargazing on the rooftop and reflecting on a truly amazing week of memories made together.

Day 8

It’s a sad day because it’s time to transfer you back to the airport for your flight! We’ll checkout at 10:00am and say our final heartfelt goodbyes to our wonderful new friends.

What’s included

Please see the Travel section below for full details of arrivals, transfer collection times and departures.

You’ll get seven nights in our traditional, spacious villas, located a short walk from the beach and culture-packed village. We have private and twin rooms available.

The villas include:

  • A swimming pool at one villa (all guests have access to it)
  • Beautiful rooftops and amazing views of the coast and mountains
  • Daily cleaning, quality towels and bed linen
  • Board storage, wetsuit wash and hang facilities
  • Traditional Moroccan-style architecture and large, airy rooms, finished to a high standard
  • The villas are totally secure and well-maintained, with friendly staff on hand to make your stay as hassle-free and comfortable as possible.

Our tailored coaching is designed to take beginner and progressor surfers to the next level. Not sure what level you are at? Take the quiz.

You’ll see amazing improvements on this trip with five days of coaching led by our lovely instructor Maya and our trusted team. Our coaching is fun and informal, including beach, ocean and classroom sessions. All of our highly qualified coaches are friendly, approachable and encouraging. They’ll be by your side during all surf sessions. Plus they’re qualified lifeguards so you’re in super safe hands.

We aim to surf as much as we can each day, depending on the swell, tide and wind conditions. You’ll receive two hours of in-water coaching around mid-morning (times will vary depending on tides) but most days there will be time for free surfing after the sessions too.

This part of Morocco is blessed with empty beaches and secret surf spots. When the local breaks aren’t firing, we’ll hit the road – our expert trip leaders and local guides have more than 40 years of experience between them and know how to find the best waves for your ability.

You’ll be provided with a surfboard and wetsuit, which is included in the cost. If you want to bring your own board that’s also fine! Just check our FAQs to make sure you’re clued up about luggage costs.

Once you have booked we will send you an enrolment form to fill in so we can start working towards your individual goals. This ensures we can offer you personalised one-to-one coaching.

During the week we will deliver:

  • Six surf lessons, including equipment
  • Two surf skate workshops
  • Paddle technique and duck diving/turtle rolling workshop
  • Surf etiquette workshop
  • Ocean awareness and surf confidence workshop
  • Equipment workshop
  • Surf travel + Q&A session
  • Two surf-inspired stretch sessions

Seeing yourself surf is a fantastic way to improve…fast. Every day you’ll watch a move-by-move breakdown of your surfing and feel the benefits of this invaluable way to learn.
Our instructors are all trained to shoot with a GoPro, so you’ll have in-water footage too.
At the end of the trip we will create an awesome package of images and video footage for you to take home. It’s not only an amazing coaching tool to help you improve – it’s also a great memento of your trip!

Surf skating is a brilliant way to develop the dynamic body movements you need during surfing, which is why it’s taking the surf community by storm.

During the trip you will receive two surf skating & video analysis sessions. Our instructors will deliver a series of drills that enable you to practise toe and heel control, opening your shoulders and using your arms to draw clean lines through your turns.

These workshops will increase your time spent on a board simulating these manoeuvres and in turn will enhance your balance, strengthen your muscle memory, help you to generate speed and improve your rate of progression on a surfboard.

When we’re surfed out for the day, there’s plenty more to do. Our team of Moroccan guides have grown up in this epic little village – ask them for their recommendations and you’ll experience things that many would never see. For example, you can:

  • Visit the local beach or village with its vibrant market, bazaars, cafes and bar
  • Hike up to the colonial castle to watch the sunset over the Atlantic
  • Visit a breathtaking natural stone arch
  • Visit the local bar for roof top beers at sunset
  • Watch shooting stars in the clear skies before bed
  • All of the experiences above are included in the trip.Additional extras include:
  • Visiting the local Hammam – the Middle Eastern answer to a sauna
  • Taking a day trip to the Sahara
  • Horse riding on the beach
  • Visiting the jewellery souk and ancient medina
  • Enjoying a massage

You can pre-book each activity. Costs depend on the number of participants.

Day trips are entirely optional. We spend most of our days at the beach, so during your downtime you may prefer to just relax on the sun terrace – you do you.

Food is not included in the trip price but we have an optional food package that we highly recommend. For £25 per day, you will be expertly catered for by our awesome local Berber chef, who will prepare communal breakfast, lunch and dinner for us at the villas daily.

We’re sure you’ll love the awesome Moroccan dishes, from freshly-caught spiced fish to tagines packed with flavour. All dietary requirements are catered for – and we’ll make sure you feel properly fuelled and nourished for a week of surfing.

Here’s what you can expect:

Breakfast – Usually starts around 8:00am or 9:00am. Tuck into multiple dishes al fresco breakfasts by the pool, including boiled eggs, fresh fruit and just-baked bread, and sip Moroccan tea in the sun before your day of surfing.

Lunch – After a morning catching waves, we’ll break for a picnic lunch on the beach. Soak up the sunshine with fresh sandwiches or cool off in the surf clubhouse. Lunch is normally a fresh baguette with a filling of your choice with fruit and other snacks.

Dinner – Each evening at around 6:00pm or 7:00pm the dining table is laden with a wide variety of delicious local dishes. You won’t go hungry, that’s for sure! We’ll eat couscous, vegetable stews, fresh salads and aubergine dishes back at the villa whilst chatting about the day’s rides and what tomorrow will bring.

Travel

You will need to arrange your travel and flights to Agadir airport. Flights are not included in the price.

The airport transfer collection time is 3:00pm

Once you’ve collected your bags we’ll meet you in the arrivals area. You’ll be greeted by a member of our trusted Moroccan transport team holding a “Women + Waves” clipboard.

You may have a short wait as the rest of the group assembles so it’s worth bringing a book, Kindle or iPad and some snacks to keep you going.

You will then be driven to our base for the week (it’s around a 90 minutes drive from Agadir airport).

The trip officially starts at 4:00pm on the first day.

Please note that we offer one free transfer per day and we ask you to plan your flight times to sync up with the 3:00pm collection, if possible. However, if you cannot sync your flight don’t worry. There are a couple of options:

Option 1 – We can organise for you to be collected at an alternative time at an additional cost of £80 each way. If we have other members of the group at a similar time, we will inform you so you can split the transfer costs between you.

Option 2 – You could arrive the day before and stay in an airport hotel in Agadir, then make it back to the airport for the following day’s transfer.

Once we’ve all arrived at the accommodation and checked into our rooms, we’ll have a group meeting to chat about the holiday and get excited for the waves ahead.

The trip officially ends at 10:00am on the last day. After a surf-stoked week, we’ll leave our accommodation at 10:00am to drop you back at the airport in good time for a stress-free check-in.

Please note that we offer one free transfer per day and, again, we ask you to try and plan your flight times to sync up with the drop-off. If your flight is earlier or later than this, we can arrange a transfer back to the airport at an additional cost of £80. If you travel with other guests this price can be split between you. Or if you are happy to arrive at the airport early for your flight you can chill at the airport with a good book, of course!

If you’d like to leave later, we have a space where you can leave your bags for the day. You will just need to cover the cost of your additional transfer.

Some guests choose to fly into Marrakech before taking a taxi through the Atlas Mountains to our location. This option is also possible but you will need to cover the cost of your transfer costs (we suggest budgeting around £170 each way).

If your flight includes a stop, please allow enough time to make your connection and factor in short delays.

If you’re worried about booking your flight and you’re based in the UK, give our good friend Lee at Dial A Flight a call on 020 7295 1556. Lee’s been booking our flights for the last 10 years and will find you the best deal and connection time. He can even book the whole trip for you, so you can relax and just rock up to the airport!

Once you’ve booked we’ll send you further information on how everything works upon your arrival. We’ll also be tracking your flight and keeping you informed via our WhatsApp group.

FAQs

We offer 3 easy ways to pay!
1. Pay In Full – Pay the full amount in one, that’s it your done! (Available online)

2.50/50 – Pay a 50% deposit and the remaining 50% 12 weeks before the trip starts. (Available online)

3. Payment Plan – Pay an initial deposit and the rest in instalments! (Contact us using our online chat or email us for this option)

We can’t guarantee your place until we receive payment (in full or a deposit). Once you have made a payment, you’ll then be sent a trip confirmation email.

We supply all equipment and have a great range of boards available as part of your package but if you want to bring your own surfboard you can expect to pay around £45 each way – but this depends on the airline and the board’s size so make sure you check your airline’s baggage fees when you book.

You’ll find basic amenities including small shops and a pharmacy – but if you’re looking for local produce, unique gifts, Moroccan jewellery and trinkets, visit the weekly local market (souk).

There are some restaurants nearby and this is one of the few places in Morocco where you’ll find a bar, making our location even more unique.

After breakfast in the morning sun, we’ll travel a short distance along the desert-backed coastline to our favourite waves.

Morocco is known for its peeling, right-hand point breaks. There’s one at our own secret break, which we almost always have completely to ourselves. It’s a great fun-sized wave for learning and for more advanced surfers to practise turns, cutbacks and take-offs.

For goofy footers, we know a left-hand point that generates super long rides. We once recorded a guest clock up a 40-second ride at this particular spot!

With plenty of wave variety, we can find options for everyone, regardless of swell and tide. Our Moroccan guide knows the daily conditions and will advise us on the right spot at the right time. And with a distinct lack of crowds, it’s the perfect location to build your confidence without worrying about getting in anyone’s way.

Morocco sits on the edge of the Sahara, the largest desert in the world. During the months we visit, you can expect hot and dry weather with warm seas to match. In June temperatures reach 20-25°C (with a low of 17°C at night) so you’re unlikely to need a full wetsuit all the time.

In September, expect more of the same. We recommend a 3/2mm wetsuit to stay toasty, although you can surf comfortably without a wetsuit in the midday sunshine. When the sun’s shining, on previous trips, there have been plenty of opportunities to surf in a bikini or swimsuit.

Your food during the trip – though we recommend you choose the £25 per day food package
Visits to the jewellery souk and ancient medina (£55)
Trips to a Hamman (a steam room that’s like the equivalent of a Turkish bath) to ease your paddling muscles (£32)
Optional day trip to the Sahara (£70)
Optional horse ride/camel ride on the beach (£25)
Sunset drinks on the rooftop at the local bar (around £3.50 per beer)

Of course! 95% of our guests attend alone! We pride ourselves on being super welcoming and friendly. You’ll arrive solo and leave with a whole heap of new surf friends for life!

Due to this trip being in high demand and having limited spaces, we can only hold your space for up to 24 hours without payment.

You are welcome to attend for a shorter period to suit your personal schedule, however, the package price will remain the same.

Group booking discounts are available, please contact us for more information.

ASAP! These holidays fill up quickly and, with super limited spaces available, sell out fast. We operate on a first come first serve basis. If you want to secure your place on the trip, it is advised that you pay as soon as you can.

If you are based outside of the UK and would like to book or chat through the holiday details, we can be contacted through our online chat.

We pride ourselves that Women and Waves is inclusive to all. We have a great mix of all ages and backgrounds.

Nearly all International mobile networks work in Morocco. For internet calls, there’s WiFi access at the villa with an acceptable connection. There is acceptable connection throughout the accommodation but in our experience, it isn’t a strong enough connection to stream movies or download large files.

We choose the time of year and location for our holidays based on local knowledge and historical swell data. In the event of flat waves or stormy conditions, we will offer alternative activities and day trips to help you get the most out of your holiday.

We may also adjust the format of the week, for example, choosing to run more surf sessions on the days that the waves are at their best.

Please visit our Terms & Conditions for more information.

We do not offer a discount for bringing your own equipment. High standard equipment is included in the price, so if you don’t fancy travelling with your board and wetsuit we can organise this for you.

There will be a range of boards to choose from, we provide the use of 7, 8 and 9 ft soft top boards and 7- 8ft epoxy minimals.

Remember to check the baggage size and weight allowance with your airline, as well as reading their guidance for carrying surfboards. Baggage handlers can be unforgiving, so a tough bag and intelligent packing are a must.

Firstly, pack your board(s) in a protective, padded board bag, and write FRAGILE and TOP LOAD ONLY on it with a permanent marker. Make sure you wrap your towel and clothes around your board inside the bag for added protection. Place your shampoo and other wet toiletries in a separate sealed bag in case of leakage. We also recommend locking the zips on your bag with a padlock.

Visas are not required for British and European passport holders for stays under 90 days. Passports must be valid for three months from the date of entry into Morocco. Non-European travellers should seek advice about visa requirements from their travel agent.

If you’re not a British national, please check international travel requirements for your nationality.

Please contact your travel agent or airline if you have any further questions. It’s a good idea to carry photocopies of your important documents and guide books and pack them separately. We also suggest scanning copies and emailing them to yourself for extra reassurance.

If you are under 18, we will need to chat to you on the phone and you will need to be accompanied on the trip by a parent or guardian throughout the holiday. If you are 60 or over we’d love to chat with you about the trip before you book. Please contact us via our online chat.

As with any holiday, full travel insurance is a requirement for all guests booking a trip with the company.

Please also ensure that your policy covers you for ‘disruption to travel’ and ‘cover for cancellations’ as standard.

For further help please read our helpful blog post about travel insurance.

You may need to add additional cover for surfing, it is essential that your insurance policy covers you for all activities during your stay. Failure to take out travel insurance breaks the contract between Women And Waves and the client.

If you are joining one of our trips and you are native to the country of its location (i.e you live in Lisbon and are joining our Portugal trip) you do not need to take out medical travel insurance. This is as long as you have your own personal health-care plan or are covered by your country’s National Health Service. Although, we kindly request that you still take out trip disruption and cancellation insurance to cover all possible eventualities.

The currency in Morocco is the Dirham which you can draw out at the exchange facilities in airports as well as ATMs.

We recommend drawing out your money at the airport when you arrive. There are also banks in the village where we stay but often do not hold much cash. It’s your responsibility to organise your currency in your own time.

All cancellations must be sent in writing and will be effective on the date which they are received by the company. Cancellation charges are payable as follows:

Period before departure we are notified – Percentage of total cost payable

If you cancel 12 weeks or more before the trip we retain 50% of the total cost.

If you cancel with less than 12 weeks before the trip then its 100% of the total cost.

However if your cancellation is within the terms of your insurance policy, you may be able to make a claim.
