Secret Morocco Surf Camp – Highlights from Our May 2025 Trip
We loved our Secret Morocco surf camp in May! The consistently warm weather, fun waves and quiet beaches go without saying, but here are three things you probably didn’t know that made the trip even more special.
Adventures in the Sahara Desert
One of the biggest highlights, apart from the incredible waves, was our Sahara Desert adventure. On a day off from surfing, some guests soaked up the sun on the beach with a book, while others craved adventure. We piled into jeeps and headed south to see where the road would take us.
Bucket List Sahara Experience
The landscape was unreal – wild, raw, and full of unexpected beauty. Rolling hills gave way to sweeping beaches and hidden coves. We wandered beneath ancient stone archways, cruised rugged tracks with reggae Adele blasting (yes, it’s a thing!), and explored a windswept fisherman’s village that felt like the edge of civilisation. We filled our pockets with shells and mermaids’ purses before feasting on fresh local dishes prepared by our Berber hosts.
From there, we travelled further south to Morocco’s longest beach. We rode on the roof, hair wild in the wind, spotting flamingos and camels along the way. Finally, we reached the golden dunes of the Sahara. Trekking to the top was tough but the views were breathtaking – pure magic we’ll never forget.
Giving Back to the Community
At Women + Waves, giving back is central to our international trips. In Morocco, we brought t-shirts from our new (soon-to-launch) clothing range to donate to local children through a charity dedicated to helping them access surfing. We’ve also learned which equipment will be most useful to the next generation of surfers, so we’ll be bringing spares and encouraging guests to do the same. It’s a small way to give back to the communities that welcome us.
