Rewilding Coral Reefs in Bali

Blog

Women + Waves and our commitment to the ocean

At Women + Waves, the ocean is our playground, our inspiration, and our greatest teacher. It is also something we feel deeply responsible for protecting. That is why we are proud to support Mossy Earth, a global rewilding charity working to restore nature and rebuild ecosystems across the world.

We want to build on our sustainability initiatives and hear from you about where you would like to see our focus going forwards. We would love your thoughts and suggestions.

Supporting Wilder Reefs in Bali

One of the ways we give back is through Mossy Earth’s Wilder Reefs Project in Nusa Lembongan, Bali – one of our favourite trip destinations. This initiative works with the local community to restore damaged coral reefs, creating thriving, biodiverse underwater ecosystems that benefit both marine life and people.

Healthy coral reefs are essential. They protect coastlines, provide food and shelter for countless species, and are the foundation of vibrant ocean life. They also play a big part in creating the perfect waves that we love to surf when in Indonesia. Sadly, reefs are under threat from rising sea temperatures, pollution, and destructive fishing practices. By supporting Wilder Reefs, we are helping to rebuild this vital habitat from the seabed up.

Experience reef restoration on our Bali Island Retreat

When you join one of our Bali Island Retreats, you will have the unique chance to see this project first-hand. Snorkelling with our local partners in Nusa Lembongan, you will experience the restored coral reefs up close, witnessing how rewilding transforms degraded seabeds into thriving ecosystems bursting with life.

It is an unforgettable highlight of our trips, connecting with the ocean in a different way, and a powerful reminder of why our commitment to sustainability matters.

Shaping the future together

As we grow and strengthen our environmental commitments, we would love to hear from you. Where do you think Women + Waves can have the greatest positive impact? Drop us a line at hatty@womenandwavessociety.com – your ideas can help shape the future of our sustainability journey.
